Street Markets

Piata Obor:

A huge covered market located close to the Metro station in Obor. Although the selection of good is wide, the market has a slightly run-down appearance. Take care of your pockets and bags as pickpockets are not unheard off in this area. The market stocks everything from household supplies to electrical appliances. It has recently been announced that a brand-new complex will be built in the area to house the market.

Piata Amzei:

Close to Piata Romana on the west of Bd. Magheru, Piata Amzei is a slightly better option than some of the other markets in town. It has both a covered section and an outdoor market, selling meats, flowers and other fresh produce.

Piata 1 Mai:

This market on Bd. Mihailache is smaller than most, but has a good selection of fruit, vegetables and flowers. As with all the markets in Bucharest you can find a wide range of clothes, shoes, household equipment and grocery produce.

Piata Dorobantilor:

As with most things in the north of the city, the products are similar to the other markets, but the prices are higher. This indoor market just north of Stefan Cel Mare on Calea Dorobantilor is no exception. Out-of-season fruits and vegetables can often be found here and the inside meat market is well-regarded.
