The cinema is good, with comfortable seating, decent sound and ten screens, although naturally it’s more expensive than the city centre cinemas. The food court has everything you’d expect from McDonald’s to Romanian cuisine. It also has some gaming rooms, casino and a bowling alley. There is a small children’s play area in the basement, a dry-cleaners, a Gima supermarket and an exchange office. Car park around the back. 55-59 Calea
Vitan
The Plaza is Bucharest newest and largest mall with many large-name brand stores represented. The cinema, as with the Calea Vitan mall’s, is modern and expensive. Not noticeably different from the Calea Vitan mall, except that it is situated in the west of the city, the former being in the east. Has all the usual facilities one would expect from a large modern mall, including another Gima supermarket. 26 Bd. Timisoara
1 Piata Unirii This mall was the original Communist mall, the predecessor of Bucharest’s malls. Although the layout is not particularly ‘mall-like’ it is less pretentious and generally cheaper than its counterparts. This fact and its being located in the centre of the city, close to metro and bus routes, means it is still very popular with Romanians looking to buy goods rather than just hang out.
This high-class mall is located in the rich north of the city and hosts many designer brands such as Versace, Max Mara and Boss. 103 Str.
Erou Iancu Nicolae
Another would-be top-end mini-mall serving the richer north. Fashion outlets and trendy cafes. 172 Calea
Dorobanti
Busy at the weekends, Orhideea has many decent stores and a Carrefour supermarket, 210 Spl.
Independentiei
Another medium-sized mall located in the west of the city, not far from the Mariott Hotel. Has the usual outlets, predominantly high-range, and also a Salingers foreign language book store. 90 Calea
13 Septembrie
Upmarket shops selling clothes, toiletries, antiques, gifts, and so on. 2 Bd. Expozitiei
